Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
emerge -C "<app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs" That's what the [blocks B] line suggests. Please make yourself familiar with portage usage before you file bugs. Further, this has nothing to do with acroread. INVALID
dear danny: sorry, but should this not work for an ordinary user out-of-the-box? aside, even after unblocking, acroread fails under amd64. (I tried to see if I could determine where it fails, but *I* failed.) # ./acroread /tmp/creditors9.pdf Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default Fatal System Error: Raise at top of Exception Stack Aborted # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r10 (gcc34-2004.2, gcc-3.4.1, glibc-2.3.4.20040619-r1, 2.6.7-gentoo-r14) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7-gentoo-r14 x86_64 4 Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 distcc 2.12.1 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-pipe -O2" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-pipe -O2" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache" GENTOO_MIRRORS=" http://mirror.clarkson.edu/pub/distributions/gentoo/ ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/gentoo/ ftp:///ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/ ftp://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aalib alsa amd64 apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt cups directfb encode esd f77 foomaticdb g77 gdbm ggi gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imlib java jpeg kde ldap libg++ libwww mikmod motif mozilla mpeg mysql nas ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png postgres python qt quicktime readline ruby scanner sdl slang snmp spell ssl tcltk tcpd tetex truetype ungif usb xml2 xmms xv zlib"
acroread is something that JUST started working, and i've only gotten it to work when using xorg 6.7.99. if you want to use it, emerge xorg-x11 6.7.99.904 and then re-emerge emul-linux-x86-xlibs. as for the blocking, that's normal behavior. if you want it changed, file another bug and assign it to dev-portage@gentoo.org. i dont think they'll change it though.
