Description Colin Macdonald 2004-09-07 02:10:38 UTC
It wasn't clear to me how to setup pcmcia on my laptop when using a 2.6 kernel. I disabled all pcmcia stuff in my kernel assuming it would come from pcmcia-cs instead (I think this is what a friend did with the 2.4 kernels). When I emerged pcmcia-cs it failed (but that might be because of bug #63103).

I will try to provide more details later if necessary. However, at any rate, you should had some information about what pcmcia stuff should be enabled in the kernel when doing a kernel config for both the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels.

Okay, I've added a paragraph about using the in-kernel drivers for 2.6 kernels (and not using them for 2.4 kernels) and added a sentence to the pcmcia-cs section that it should be installed regardless of kernel version.
