The package includes file(s) larger than 20 KiB in FILESDIR. Please move them to SRC_URI (or remove).

"files/271-3.10.0.patch" exceeds 20k in size; 22.9 KiB total

REFERENCE:

Bug 616958 :  12.5.7 version bump

Current [Overlay] includes:
           app-emulation/vmware-modules-304.4-r1:0
           app-emulation/vmware-modules-308.5.7:0

In consequence, 
current [Overlay] /files directory only includes
           >= 304-* ,
all of them
           <= 3,5K ,
no
              271-* any more.

To me, this bug seems to be FIXED / OBSOLETE.

The check uses an arbitrary value indicating you're far beyond the sanity. Looking at vmware-modules, this thing *really belongs* in a patch tarball.

Also, this bug is open and urgent as long as the warning light pops up for ::gentoo.

VMware Products have been removed from Main Portage Tree during Nov-2017.

Further development has been relegated to [vmware] Overlay.

Situation as of today, 30-Nov-2017:
Workstation : stable in [vmware] = 12.5.8  / released = 14.0.0  : Bug 634770
Player      : stable in [vmware] = 12.5.8  / released = 14.0.0  : Bug 639162
Modules     : stable in [vmware] = 308.5.8 / released = 329.0.0 : Bug 634862
Tools       : stable in [vmware] = 10.1.6  / released = 10.1.15 : Bug 634854


@ Michał Górny :

Furtheron, I have already asked Fabio Rossi 
to please prune the [vmware] Overlay also from old versions.

12.5.8 will EOL soon (2018/02/25) anyway.


The newly porposed versions around 14.0.0 
- contain much less files
- consume only 68K in total.

I hope that in total, this resolves the issue: please, let us know.
