Trying to emerge kdelibs-3.2.3-r1, I get the following (a few commands of mine at the end): [...] make[4]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate/plugins/kdatatool' make[4]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate/plugins' make[4]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'. make[4]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate/plugins' make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate/plugins' make[3]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate' make[3]: Nothing to be done for `all-am'. make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate' make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3/kate' make[2]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3' make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3' make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdelibs-3.2.3-r1/work/kdelibs-3.2.3' --------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY --------------------------- LOG FILE = "/tmp/sandbox-kde-base_-_kdelibs-3.2.3-r1-11184.log" open_wr: /etc/default/nss -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- blackbox root # ls /etc/default cdrecord.dfl rscsi.dfl useradd blackbox root # more /tmp/sandbox-kde-base_-_kdelibs-3.2.3-r1-11184.log open_wr: /etc/default/nss I tried to scroll up through my buffer to see what the ebuild was trying to do that caused this, but I didn't find anything :( The actual/expected results on this are basically identical to Bug 59128, except with kdelibs-3.2.3-r1 instead of perl-5.8.4 (note that I've also run into that bug on my own machine during the same attempt to "emerge -aDu world"...). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge sync 2. emerge -aDu world (or just emerge kdelibs) Actual Results: It fails due to attempting to open /etc/default/nss in write-mode. (That file doesn't even exist on my machine.) Expected Results: It either shouldn't mess with /etc/default/nss, or should inform the sandbox that it's ok. blackbox root # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r9 (2004.2, gcc-3.3.3, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r1, 2.6.7) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -falign-functions=4 -fprefetch-loop-arrays" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -funroll-loops -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-addr -falign-functions=4 -fprefetch-loop-arrays" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X Xaw3d aalib acl acp alsa apache2 apm arts avi berkdb bonobo cdr crypt cscope cups curl dga directfb emacs emacs-w3 encode esd ethereal evo fam fastcgi fbcon flac flash foomaticdb freetds gb gd gdbm ggi gif gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml icc icc-pgo imagemagick imap imlib innodb ipv6 jack java jikes jpeg kde ladcca lcms leim lesstif libg++ libgda libwww mad maildir mbox mcal mikmod mmx motif mozilla mpeg mpi mysql nas ncurses netcdf nhc98 nls odbc oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl plotutils png ppds python qt quicktime readline ruby samba sasl sdl slang slp socks5 spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex theora tiff truetype unicode usb videos wmf wxwindows x86 xface xinerama xml xml2 xmms xsd xv zlib"
