nfs-utils/nfs-utils-1.3.1-r5 (latest stable for amd64 in portage) blocks update to dev-libs/libevent-2.1.8 (latest stable for amd64 in portage):

Can confirm this. Same here with recent portage on stable amd64 ...

Not only stable is broken here, there are several CVEs filled against libevent <2.1.8
