When I booted with the gentoo and smp kernels, /dev/hda did not exist.  The emachines kernel did not have this problem.

I have a PowerSpec 8985; the hard drive is a WDC WD2000JB-16FUA0.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. boot the 2004.2 amd64 universal livecd
2. select the gentoo or smp kernel
3. ls /dev/hda

Actual Results:  
/dev/hda does not exist

Expected Results:  
/dev/hda should exist
