dev-util/valgrind-3.10.1::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="-mpi" ABI_X86="64"
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=native -mtune=native -pipe -fno-stack-protector"
CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=native -mtune=native -pipe -fno-stack-protector"

@blueness:

seems that upgrage to 3.11.0 is fine. Do you think is ready to go to stable?
Comment 3 kavol 2017-01-24 20:44:43 UTC
I've just hit this too ... 3.12.0 works for me, however I had to do this workaround:

--- valgrind-3.12.0.ebuild      2016-10-26 21:07:52.000000000 +0200
+++ valgrind-3.12.0-r1.ebuild   2017-01-24 21:14:25.992705062 +0100

... oh my, the problem is known for years, yet I cannot use valgrind for a program which fits altogether (including data, source and build files) under 1 GB of disk space on a machine with 16 GB RAM just because of some wrong allocation?
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2017-02-05 09:50:50 UTC
We need to stabilize a newer version :/
Comment 5 augustin 2017-03-16 06:08:53 UTC
I stumbled upon this problem, too.
I run stable amd.

eix glibc
Installed versions:  2.23-r3

emerge -a valgrind
[ebuild  N     ] dev-util/valgrind-3.10.1  USE="-mpi"
Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] y

checking the GLIBC_VERSION version... unsupported version 2.23
configure: error: Valgrind requires glibc version 2.2 - 2.19

All the above with stable amd packages.

[ebuild  N    ~] dev-util/valgrind-3.12.0  USE="-mpi"
Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] y
=> installed ok without any change.

Any reason why algrind-3.11 or 3.12 cannot be pushed to stable amd?
Comment 6 Xiami 2017-03-29 02:59:11 UTC
ran into the same problem
Comment 7 Thomas Oettli 2017-03-31 05:26:34 UTC
I just had the same problem too.

I just stabilized amd64, ppc and ppc64. I'll need the x86 team to take care of x86 unless someone else has tested and I'll mark it stable.
