Comment 6 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 12:39:45 UTC
are you still able to reproduce?
Comment 7 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 17:50:43 UTC
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #6)
yes, eg at 17.0-developer_20180623-161401
Comment 8 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 19:35:29 UTC
did you run revdep-rebuild after updating gcc?
Comment 9 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 19:47:30 UTC
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #8)
no, burt @preserved-rebuild is run :

tinderbox@mr-fox ~ $ head -n 30 run/17.0-developer_20180623-161401/tmp/task.history
%emerge -u sys-devel/gcc
%emerge --unmerge sys-devel/gcc:6.4.0
%emerge -u sys-kernel/vanilla-sources
%emerge --resume --skip-first
%emerge --resume --skip-first
%emerge --resume --skip-first
Comment 10 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 19:55:41 UTC
try running revdep-rebuild as preserved-rebuild doesn't catch the breakage caused by gcc-config when switching gcc versions -> bug 459038
Comment 11 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 20:25:11 UTC
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #10)
oha, I was told that it should not be necessary to run revdep-rebuild suually.

Ok, but it gaves nothing here:

tinderbox@mr-fox ~ $ tail -f run/17.0-developer_20180623-161401/tmp/task.log

 * This is the new python coded version
 * Please report any bugs found using it.
 * The original revdep-rebuild script is installed as
 * Please file bugs at:
 * Collecting system binaries and libraries
 * Checking dynamic linking consistency
 * Assign files to packages

emerge  --oneshot --complete-graph=y net-wireless/unifi:0/5.8

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Comment 12 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 20:37:24 UTC
(In reply to Toralf Förster from comment #11)
ui, after unmerging the blocking package I now run into bug 592188
Comment 13 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 20:58:29 UTC
FWIW the GCC switch is at the tinderbox images the very first step after unapcking astage3 and cofniguring it a little bit - so revdep-rebuild should not have an effect here for this bug
Comment 14 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2018-06-26 22:03:33 UTC
well... if it shows no broken package, ok. In my case after gcc-config set to gcc7 from gcc6, some packages broke due to soname bump of fortran libs
Comment 15 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2019-09-01 19:08:41 UTC
Package removed.
