It would be really nice if this could be extended to state what tools are installed, i.e. letting the user choose without having to conduct additional research.

sci-libs/cgnslib/cgnslib-3.3.0 installs almost all of tools from useflag description: cgnscheck cgnscompress cgnsdiff cgnslist cgnsnames cgnsupdate cgnsconvert. Exceptions are adf2hdf hdf2adf.

Think this issue has been solved. Current metadata.xml contains a list of installed utility programs.
