Description Markus 2016-10-08 08:03:52 UTC
kde-frameworks 5.26.0
kde-plasma 5.8.0
kde-apps 16.08.1/16.04.3/4.14.11

Previous qt 5.6.1

Updated to qt 5.7.0

I have two monitors and on the left one a vertical panel (right side). Just in the middle around 1/3 of full height.

When I now move one window on the left screen up/down, that window graps on the upper and lower edge of the panel. Just in a small area, like it graps the edges of the screen.

When this is done on the right screen (The one without the vertical panel.) it is not possible to position the upper edge of the window between the upper and lower edge of the panel. (eg. Moving it down from the top to the bottom of the screen: It sticks on the upper edge of the panel, the mouse moves down, when the mouse is below the lower edge of the panel, the window jumps down. Similar for moving up.)

When I move the window between those edges on the left screen, it is not possible to move it to the right screen. (The upper left corner of the window always stays just a bit left of the panel.)
Comment 1 Markus 2016-10-16 07:42:40 UTC
Still valid for plasma 5.8.1.

Moving with alt+click works as expected.
Comment 2 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2016-10-16 19:26:09 UTC
Can you reproduce with a fresh user?
Comment 3 Markus 2016-10-17 16:42:53 UTC
Yes. Added a new user. Added vertical panel like the original user. Same problem.
Comment 4 Markus 2016-10-22 05:49:22 UTC
Still valid for:
kde-frameworks 5.27.0
kde-plasma 5.8.2
kde-apps 16.08.2/16.04.3/4.14.11

Is the problem clear? Can somebody reproduce it with a dual screen setup?
Comment 5 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2016-10-22 10:11:56 UTC
I'd probably wait for Qt 5.7.1 (due soon), and if the problem then still persists report to KDE upstream.
Comment 6 Johannes Huber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-12-14 17:07:37 UTC
Qt 5.7.1 is in tree now. Please test.

Comment 7 Markus 2016-12-15 15:52:00 UTC
The problem still persists with:
kde-frameworks 5.29.0
kde-plasma 5.8.4
kde-apps 16.08.3/16.04.3/4.14.11
qt 5.7.1
Comment 8 Markus 2017-09-10 15:04:32 UTC
A fix was commited in upstream for kwin 5.11.0:

Comment 9 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2017-09-10 15:19:28 UTC
That's good news, thanks for the follow-up. 5.11 beta is expected in 3 days and will be available in kde overlay.
