I have two systems with same issue.
I have identical build fail at same point as OP.
This is probably a more important excerpt than the one stated in the top comment: to the file: /var/tmp/portage/media-sound/projectm-pulseaudio-2.1.0/image//usr/bin/projectM-pulseaudio The current RUNPATH is: --library=projectM:-L/usr/lib64/qt4:-lQtXml:-lQtOpenGL:-lQtGui:-lQtCore:/usr/lib64/qt4: which does not contain: -lprojectM:-L/usr/lib64/qt4:-lQtXml:-lQtOpenGL:-lQtGui:-lQtCore:/usr/lib64/qt4: It seems to be putting "--library=" when it expects "-l" So its possibly something quite simple.
I was unable to determine a way to set the RPATH when building, but after it is built, it can be changed. Not the appropriate way to do this, but it works. Append this to the end of the ebuild to at least get it to install again: src_install() { patchelf --set-rpath '\-lprojectM:-L/usr/lib64/qt4:-lQtXml:-lQtOpenGL:-lQtGui:-lQtCore:/usr/lib64/qt4:' projectM-pulseaudio }
(In reply to Kenton Groombridge from comment #7) > I was unable to determine a way to set the RPATH when building, but after it > is built, it can be changed. It allows it to build and appear to install, but doesn't. I am still trying to find a solution to this. I agree with a previous comment, it should be simple, but not a cmake expert here.
I've found another solution. ---------- src_configure() { local mycmakeargs=( -DCMAKE_SKIP_RPATH=ON ) cmake-utils_src_configure } ---------- But I can't decide whether this solution is the best.
(In reply to nilburn from comment #9) This worked for me. Thanks.
thanks #9 work here as well
Same here with cmake 3.7.2. About a year ago it merged successfully with cmake 3.4.3. (In reply to nilburn from comment #9) Thanks, it works.
I confirm: It builds. However, afterwards it will segfault on start.
With cmake 3.4.3 it compiles just fine, but it still segfaults
Comment #9 works for me, and does *not* segfault.
For temporary workaround (until we find, why it writes --library= instead of -l to RPATH during compile) this may be useful: The following command must go after cmake-utils_src_configure, and before src_install (also may be in compile phase): sed -ie 's\-lprojectM:\--library=projectM:\' "${WORKDIR}/${PF}_build" (dont know yet, how to find such dir via variable, as $S is documented as build dir, but it is not). After that it runs ok, without segfaults.
As for self, i added it to /etc/portage/bashrc, enclosed with this block: if ["${CATEGORY}/${PN}" == "media-sound/pulseaudio"] && ["${STAGE}" == "compile"] then fi
I'm getting this build bug in the current Portage tree. Comment #9 also works for me, without segfault. 'projectM-pulseaudio; runs fine. I had to edit the .ebuild and the Manifest files. Is there a better way to overlay my own local patches? I'm new to Gentoo. Will this bug ever get fixed? It's been quite a few months and there are working patches available in this bug report.
(In reply to Euan Thoms from comment #18) Follow this guide: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Custom_repository

(In reply to selurvedu from comment #19) > (In reply to Euan Thoms from comment #18) > > Follow this guide: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Custom_repository @selurvedu: Thanks, I followed that guide and I have a working localrepo to do my custom / patched ebuilds. Gentoo is really awesome, I'm a genoob (gentoo noob) and I'm really starting to love it's power. The tooling is amazing. I like how the 'repoman manifest' does the Manifest changes for me, saves time and tedium. Maybe once I get more familiar with Gentoo I could help maintain this ebuild. Assuming I end up using projectm-pulseaudio.
This is still failing to build, and also ends up needing qt4
