Description Christian Weigel 2004-07-30 00:39:55 UTC
Hi,

I recently updated KDE to the 3.2.3. Since then Juk keeps crashing at startup.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start juk

Actual Results:
this happens when I try to start juk:

juk: ERROR: Communication problem with juk, it probably crashed.
bash-2.05b$ KCrash: Application 'juk' crashing...

Expected Results:
Juk should start without problems, shouldn't it?

Temporary solution: As advised in another Thread I removed the ~/kde/share/apps/
juk directory, and restarted juk - now it's working, but all own made playlists
are lost.

Did a window appear with a backtrace?
Comment 2 Dominik Stadler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-30 12:59:42 UTC
I have seen this on my box sometimes. It seems that somehow the settings and/or stored playlists are confusing juk. Try to move either

~/.kde3.2/share/apps/juk/playlists
or
~/.kde3.2/share/config/jukrc

out of the way and try to start again.

If this is the cause of the problem then you should report this at bugs.kde.org and attach the file that confused juk!

Any news on this? Setting to NEEDINFO as we are waiting on response.
Comment 4 Christian Weigel 2004-08-17 16:10:29 UTC
Hi,

i deleted the juk directory beneath ~/.kde/share/apps. Since then juk works normally. Because I deleted the directory I have no chance to further reconstruct this issue ;-(

Sorry about that. But there were som ppl in the Forums who had similar problems.

so long,

    Christian

I've got a similar problem with juk in kde 3.3.0. But it's unrelated to the config files, I've deleted the files mentioned above, and it makes no difference. I've created a new bug, id 61146

Close dead old bug originally resolved "needinfo".
