Home user here. I've been running development-sources but had an Alsa problem so I tried gentoo-dev-sources to see if that would fix things before I reported it. (It did not so that's a second bug report - not this one.) However, in trying out 2.6.7-r11 on my Compaq Presario R3070us I ran into a new issue. The screen goes blank during most of the boot process! The boot start, goes through BIOS and grub, and then starts loading the kernel. After about 1 second the screen goes black and stays that way until almost the end of all of the init scripts, at which time it comes back. Once the boot has finished I can scroll back in the console and see everything that happened, but while it's booting I cannot. This does not happen with 2.6.6, nor with 2.4 series kernels. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Hi - I solved this today with help from Gentoo Users. The problem was (apparently) something I was doing wrong with framebuffer support. I changed the options in the kernel build and now I can see everything. I'll close the bug, or you can unless you think there's something here to look at. Thanks.
