One thing to note, this happens with the controversial 230 systemd release. 229 and lower work just fine.
Also, accountsservice-0.6.42 was released yesterday, which fixes the issue. https://www.freedesktop.org/software/accountsservice/accountsservice-0.6.42.tar.xz
Same here. Created a local overlay and bumped the version. I am getting logged out of gnome after some time, then, can't login (logs out immediately). It might be related.
I can also confirm this problem, and I can confirm the patch as working
