I ran into problems similar to bug 464096. Reproducible: Always
See discussion: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1016408-start-0.html A settings tool needs an "unset". It really shouldn't require one to understand its inner workings in order to revoke a temporary personal setting. One shouldn't have to understand the role of the Higgs boson in driving nails, in order to operate a hammer. I just ran into this again, when a cron job ran afoul of a long-forgotten setting and I had to research and track down the link that embodied it to undo the damage.
