The text that appears after automatic login when booting the install CD provides http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook.xml as the URL for the handbook. Accessing this page results in a 404 error.

A possible solution might be to create a redirect from https://handbook.gentoo.org to https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:Main_Page and include https://handbook.gentoo.org in the installation CD text.
