Created attachment 450044 [details] updated ebuild I have updated the ebuild to avoid google-code and use EAPI 6. Unfortunately do the tarballs from github not include a configure script and therefore make it necessary to run 'autogen.sh' from the ebuild.
Is the project still alive then? Maybe ping upstream and ask them to create github release and attach dist tarball there.
One could also consider solving this bug by removing this package from the main tree. I could find only one reverse dependency which is an old version of app-text/referencer (1.2.0) which is also superseded by two more recent releases. In any case I have pinged upstream and asked if a proper release on github will be possible [1]. However, the last upstream commit is 8 years old! [1] https://github.com/markoa/gtkmm-utils/issues/2
upstream announced [1] that it discontinued working on this project long time ago and will not work on it in future. -> There will be no release tarballs on github. Since there is only one outdated project in Gentoo depending on it I would vote for removing gtkmm-utils and referencer-1.2.0-r1. [1] https://github.com/markoa/gtkmm-utils/issues/2
Due to the email by Jonas Stein I feel obliged to update this bug-report; However, I am only proxy-maintainer of this project so I cannot commit the changes myself: As in explained in my previous comments on this bug report I suggest to resolve this by: 1) remove the ebuild of app-text/referencer-1.2.0-r1 (newer versions are unaffected and should stay). 2) remove the project dev-cpp/gtkmm-utils from the tree since it has no more reverse dependencies.
Thanks for the update Dominik. > 1) remove the ebuild of app-text/referencer-1.2.0-r1 (newer versions are > unaffected and should stay). Done - https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=1fef3d666b27cbd4ccf2afaff526a23948fa6ffe > 2) remove the project dev-cpp/gtkmm-utils from the tree since it has no more > reverse dependencies. There are a few steps we must take first: https://devmanual.gentoo.org/ebuild-maintenance/index.html#removing-a-package I've committed the mask (https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=154bc28b14a86637d7f0621a0d7fbb3750888395) and mailed out the last rites announcement. We can commit the actual removal after the 30 day waiting period.

This patch is not referenced by the newer versions since I was committed upstream in version 1.2.1.

Package removed.
