Description kjwolf 2002-07-29 03:56:18 UTC
Wouldn't it be a good idea to make all the binaries in /bin and /sbin statically
linked?

This is standard with the BSD's and has the big advantage of having at least
some rudimentary commands working if some important libraries get damaged or lost.

In my experience, it is the biggest crux of many Linux systems; you cannot get
the system back to work if you don't have some appropriate libraries by the
hand; you cannot even boot and copy something even if it is on the harddisk.
