Using the radeon driver that follows with the kernel in 2.6.7-gentoo-r9 xorg-x11 seems to "hang" when using the dri module. The screen shows it self, and the mouse (with mouse cursor) works nice, but everything just hangs after that, no window manager gets loaded on the screen. I'dont get that mouch output from the Xorg.log, and also tested to run an strace to locate the problem, but can't realy find anything that is causing the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. startx 2. 3. Actual Results: X hangs, before loading windowmanager. Expected Results: A working X enviorment with DRI functions. There is no EE in the Xorg-file, but some WW (I don't think they tell that much). (WW) RADEON(0): Video BIOS not detected in PCI space! (WW) RADEON(0): Attempting to read Video BIOS from legacy ISA space! (WW) RADEON(0): Video BIOS not found! (WW) RADEON(0): No valid info for SCLK/MCLK for display bandwidth calculation. I am experiencing the exact same problem. X starts up and I get the X cursor, but then it freezes and I get no window manager. If I disable the radeon and agpgart modules, it works fine. This originally happened after I did a fresh install of 2004.1 and emerged xorg-x11 using the original gcc. Since then I've updated to gcc-3.4.1 and recompiled xorg-x11 (and the whole system) and I still have the same issue. I also have the Radeon 7500 (ibook G3 900). My log file shows the same warnings as the submittor and no errors. Let me know if I can provide any more info. did you load <your_chipset>-agp and agpgart before you loaded the Xserver?
I no longer have access to my iBook with the radeon card, so I realy can't give any more information. Maybe the other user with the same problem can be of assistance..
Nope, there is no agpgart driver for this hardware. And the DRI Radeon driver worked with XFree86 and xorg-x11 6.7.0.
So this bug is outdated. Can you please close it, david?
Seems so, then I'll just close it.
