Since update this morning from 42.0 to 42.0-r2, firefox freezes after few seconds. Downgrading to 38.4.0 brings back normal behaviour. Just compiling again 42.0-r2 so that I can provide the build.log after.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Load https://forums.gentoo.org/search.php?search_id=last 2. Scroll down 3. Firefox freezes, screen turns black then comes up again with glitches.
After several recompiles of different versions (42.0-r2, 43.0_beta7, 38.4.0) the problem went away. No idea what finally solved the issue. Sorry for the noise and thanks for your attention.

Might be a far shot, but did you try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox's Settings? I get a similar issue with more programs as well as browsers that heavily use hardware.
This is the same issue, please refer to it for a quick solution or be patient and I will get -r3 in tree by end of week. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 567108 ***
