in my quick fixes one of checks for old kernel was removed. 
readd it if you want.

in any case it works for me.

Can anyone confirm this is working with older (pre-GCN) Radeon HD5000/6000 cards? Otherwise we might need to add a ewarn.

On the AMD supported products page these cards are still listed, and I'm already running this version on a Radeon HD 6870 :)

But I can't switch between discrete and internal gpu

I encounted the same problem with Catalyst 15.11 in my Linux Mint system: all "aticonfig" options return "aticonfig: No supported adapters detected" for my HD5850 while driver works.

After installing Catalyst 15.12 (I created a bump request: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=568836) the command "aticonfig" works again in my Linux Mint system. So I hope it will be work in Gentoo too.

Thanks for your 15.12 ebuild. I've installed it and tested. aticonfig switches work fine.

There is an updated ebuild from the original maintainer in x11 overlay, that differs from 15.9-r1 (seems like it was based on 15.9).
