Created attachment 414162 [details] a build log of btrfs-progs-4.2.2 on ppc64
Looks like a https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=56228 Try gcc-4.8 or 4.9.
After upgrading sys-devel/gcc from 4.7.3-r1 (in stage3-ppc64-64ul-20140713.tar.bz2) to 4.9.3, the package is built and installed successfully, both version 4.0.1 and 4.2.2.

Sounds good. ppc64 has both 4.8 and 4.9 stable. Thanks!
