Description Isaac ‘Will It Work’ Dansicker 2015-06-17 20:07:58 UTC
There are several BSD-style coding components in this, may be related to 536832.

The build fails due to configuration issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge libasr (net-libs/libasr-1.0.1.201505061057::gentoo).
2. Emerge opensmtpd.

Actual Results:
Configuration fails.

Expected Results:
Configuration runs successfully, ebuild compiles and installs.

Relevant Output:

./configure: line 19721: test: =: unary operator expected
checking for asr.h... yes
checking for asr_resolver in -lasr... no
configure: error: *** libasr missing - please install first or check config.log ***

You should post the config.log

I think that this is related to uclibc.

I observe the same error as you on the musl profiles. There the issue
is that libasr uses res_randomid unconditionally, which musl does not
have.

Configure log

As per request.

Should probably take a look at the library then, because libasr DID successfully build.
Comment 6 Felix Janda 2015-06-18 17:24:18 UTC
Indeed the usage of res_randomid() in libasr seems to be the culprit.

Try updating to uclibc-0.9.33. According to my research the function has
been added in this version of uclibc.

Opened an issue at: https://github.com/OpenSMTPD/libasr/issues/8

Felix:

Feels like it's on the right track, but I'm using uclibc-0.9.33.2-r15.
Comment 8 Manuel Rüger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-07-18 10:49:10 UTC
Have you tried opensmtpd-5.7.1?

> Have you tried opensmtpd-5.7.1?

No, I went back to dovecot+postfix when I abandoned hardened uclibc profile.

If no one else is trying this, can close.
Comment 10 Gabriel 2020-09-12 09:01:02 UTC
Is this bug still relevant given that opensmtpd 5.x is not in ::gentoo any more?
