You should post the config.log I think that this is related to uclibc. I observe the same error as you on the musl profiles. There the issue is that libasr uses res_randomid unconditionally, which musl does not have.

Indeed the usage of res_randomid() in libasr seems to be the culprit. Try updating to uclibc-0.9.33. According to my research the function has been added in this version of uclibc. Opened an issue at: https://github.com/OpenSMTPD/libasr/issues/8

Have you tried opensmtpd-5.7.1?

Is this bug still relevant given that opensmtpd 5.x is not in ::gentoo any more?
