I get this error every startup and every dmesg run "nouveau E[ PFIFO][0000:01:00.0] SCHED_ERROR [ UNK08 ]". I use hardened kernels and haven't got this error in lines 3.17.x and 3.18.x. lshw -numeric -C display *-display description: 3D controller product: GM107M [GeForce GTX 850M] [10DE:1391] vendor: NVIDIA Corporation [10DE] physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0 version: a2 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=nouveau latency=0 resources: irq:29 memory:d2000000-d2ffffff memory:a0000000-afffffff memory:b0000000-b1ffffff ioport:4000(size=128) memory:b2000000-b207ffff *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:416] vendor: Intel Corporation [8086] physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 06 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:28 memory:d3000000-d33fffff memory:c0000000-cfffffff ioport:5000(size=64) I have kernel set according to https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Nouveau - so Nouveau (nVidia) cards is compiled. /etc/portage/make.conf VIDEO_CARDS="intel nouveau"
I'm using ~amd64.
With newest 4.0.1-hardened it's ok.
For a moment it looked like I don't have it on kernel line 4.0.x but still I have it both for hardened (4.0.1, 4.0.2-r1) and not hardened (4.0.3). Any ideas what it means and how to fix it?
?
I mean 4.0.1 is ok but then 4.0.2-r1 and 4.0.3 have the same error again.
Do the gentoo-sources kernels work? Is the problem hardened related only or both gentoo-sources and hardened-sources have the problem? just to be clear, hardened-sources-4.0.1 works hardened-sources-4.0.2-r1 fails hardened-sources-4.0.3 fails is that correct? if you have tried any of the gentoo-sources, which exact versions and did they work / fail? And you used the exact same kernel config for all of them?
is this related? https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89558
This is an older bug. Is it fixed with the newer hardened sources? In particular is it fixed with hardened-sources-4.4.2?
