Description Richard Yao (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-03-18 18:45:47 UTC
A coworker remarked that it would be nice if startprefix had $@ so that you could do `gentoo/startprefix ${COMMAND} ...`. This would be nice feature.

Not that I'm against it, but what's the use-case here?

filosophy behind the prefix was that it would work as well when you'd call binaries from a non-Prefix-initialised environment

Some applications require environment overrides or rely on GLib schema to be installed, etc

Not all applications work well without using the startprefix script.
