Attempting to emerge xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1 on my amd64 fails. It compiles for a while and then dies with an error in the xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1/work/xc/lib/Xt directory. Might be gcc 3.4 related but I don't have version 3.3 installed to check. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge -u x11-base/xorg-x11 2. 3. Actual Results: It compiles for a while until: gcc -c -ansi -pedantic -Wno-return-type -w -I../.. -I../../exports/include -Dlinux -D__amd64__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -DXTHREADS -D_REENTRANT -DXUSE_MTSAFE_API -DUSE_SNPRINTF -DLIBXT -DXVENDORNAME='"The X.Org Foundation"' -DXVENDORNAMESHORT='"X.Org"' -O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing Convert.c -o unshared/Convert.o rm -f Convert.o gcc -c -O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -ansi -pedantic -Wno-return-type -w -I../.. -I../../exports/include -Dlinux -D__amd64__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -DXTHREADS -D_REENTRANT -DXUSE_MTSAFE_API -DUSE_SNPRINTF -DLIBXT -DXVENDORNAME='"The X.Org Foundation"' -DXVENDORNAMESHORT='"X.Org"' -fPIC Convert.c rm -f Converters.o unshared/Converters.o gcc -c -ansi -pedantic -Wno-return-type -w -I../.. -I../../exports/include -Dlinux -D__amd64__ -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE=199309L -D_POSIX_SOURCE -D_XOPEN_SOURCE -D_BSD_SOURCE -D_SVID_SOURCE -D_GNU_SOURCE -DFUNCPROTO=15 -DNARROWPROTO -DXTHREADS -D_REENTRANT -DXUSE_MTSAFE_API -DUSE_SNPRINTF -DLIBXT -DXVENDORNAME='"The X.Org Foundation"' -DXVENDORNAMESHORT='"X.Org"' -O2 -march=athlon64 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing Converters.c -o unshared/Converters.o make[4]: *** [Converters.o] Killed make[4]: Leaving directory `/data/port_tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1/work/xc/lib/Xt'make[3]: *** [all] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/data/port_tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1/work/xc/lib' make[2]: *** [all] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/data/port_tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1/work/xc' make[1]: *** [World] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/data/port_tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1/work/xc' make: *** [World] Error 2 !!! I know you guys love to be on every bug that amd64 users have, so here ya go.
I just tried and 6.7.0-r1 compiled and installed fine. Well, something's happened in the time since I reported it as it compiles perfectly now. Hmmm.... I upgraded to gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7. Can't think of anything else. Unless anyone else is having a similar problem you can probably consider this problem solved!
Thanks -- if it crops up again, feel free to reopen.
