OpenSMTPD can operate as MDA (enabled in smtpd.conf by default) and requires /var/mail directory for that. The problem is -- if this directory is missing, smtpd won't create it by itself and will not deliver in that case. We already have this directory provided by net-mail/mailbase (along with a set of useful aliases), so I suggest adding net-mail/mailbase to RDEPENDS.
Please, stop renaming my bugs. The original name was more accurate, because adding net-mail/mailbase is only my suggestion. I won't stand against dodir'ing /var/mail, patching upstream or any other fix.

I have a suggestion: maybe you can give me some proxy maintainer status so we won't have to wait a week for such trivial fixes?
(In reply to consus from comment #4) > I have a suggestion: maybe you can give me some proxy maintainer status so > we won't have to wait a week for such trivial fixes? You already have the workaround, so now you can rest assured that in good time the bug will be fixed, and attend to more important matters.
> in good time the bug will be fixed Last time it took you guys more than a month to change the installation path of the kernel module. I don't want to wait weeks for trivial things to get fixed, and I'm offering you a helping hand. I have some time to spend and I would like to become a maintainer so I could be more useful. What should I do?

Bump! Really, guys, this is fucking rudiculus.
