Ceph recently hosts systemd service files in their tree:
https://github.com/ceph/ceph/tree/master/systemd

They should be tested and installed with the current release. I'll do this in the near future if no one else hasn't already and states it here.

I'm not using systemd myself, if you can provide sane systemd-unit-file support. I would more than happy to take it.

note, upstream's systemd script source file /etc/sysconfig/ceph which is rather redhat specific? and does not exist under Gentoo.

There is a working ebuild for ceph-0.94.1 which supports systemd. See bug #550892.
