I'm using gentoo stable and I experience a build failure of valgrind with the following error message:

checking the GLIBC_VERSION version... unsupported version 2.19
configure: error: Valgrind requires glibc version 2.2 - 2.17

Versions of both components in stable at the time of submitting this bug report:

sys-libs/glibc 2.19-r1
dev-util/valgrind 3.8.1

As a workaround I'm using valgrind 3.9.0 which builds just fine. In my opinion, the easiest solution would be to stabilize valgrind 3.9.0.
