# Robin H. Johnson <robbat2@gentoo.org> (08 Oct 2012) # Masked for testing =sys-libs/db-6.0* =sys-libs/db-5.3* =sys-libs/db-5.2* =sys-libs/db-5.1* =sys-libs/db-5.0* This package.mask entry has been in place for a long time and has multiple issues. Are we really having trouble with all of these versions of db? If they aren't broken, we should probably remove them from the mask entry and have them go to ~arch. If they are, we should remove them from the tree. Thanks, William
Please be careful about unmasking =sys-libs/db-6.0*. See bug 494490.
The previously referenced bug is related, but not a dependency. Here is the info from that bug that is relevant: https://forums.oracle.com/message/11184885 http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2013/07/ The issue is many licenses are incompatible with AGPL-3, which is the license db-6 uses.
#513782 is semi-related. I think the outcome was that 5.3 is going to be unmasked next, and 5.0 .. 5.2 will be either masked permanently or removed.
494490 is not actually dependent on unmasking any DB versions, so i'm removing it from here.
I see that the various teams have made no real progress on the tracker bugs 476360 and 319587, so I'm going to move forward anyway, with unmasking ALL of the versions listed here; provided that they pass their testsuites still (running on my box now, 6.0 has passed so far).
5.3, 6.0 in the tree. the rest are still running tests (it's ~2 hours/ebuild for src_test)
5.0, 5.2 failed tests and are removed. new 6.1 is in the tree, p.masked, as it fails tests but I expect upstream to resolve that soon.
