Description Richard Otis 2014-06-27 20:31:33 UTC
A recent change to the Git repository behind dev-libs/go-fuse-9999 appears to have introduced a dependency on Go 1.3 through use of the new "sync.Pool" type and possibly other new language features. Attempting to build with unmasked Go 1.2, as is the current behavior, will fail during compile.
Comment 1 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-06-28 12:46:10 UTC
I think you meant to say something about "keywording" where you said "masked". If so, then what is it you wanted to say?

The problem is that dev-libs/go-fuse won't build anymore, even though it used to if you followed the instructions on the wiki. I've provided some information to reproduce below.

/etc/portage/package.keywords:
# required by sys-fs/go-mtpfs-9999 (see: http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/MTP )
# required by go-mtpfs (argument)
=dev-libs/go-fuse-9999 **
# required by go-mtpfs (argument)
=sys-fs/go-mtpfs-9999 **

$ emerge -pv go-fuse

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

SUMMARY
However, if you add ~arch keyword for dev-lang/go-1.3, go-fuse will build correctly. I'm saying that dev-libs/go-fuse now depends on >=dev-lang/go-1.3, but go-1.3 is behind the ~arch keyword so, unless you explicitly add "=dev-lang/go-1.3 ~arch" to accept_keywords and emerge go again, go-fuse will not build. An updated ebuild for go-fuse shouldg reflect this dependence.
Comment 4 Rick Farina (Zero_Chaos) gentoo-dev 2014-06-28 17:55:20 UTC
Due to the horrible horrible build system that is go, this package can't rebuild after you update to go 1.3:

github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs
mkdir -p $WORK/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs/_obj/
mkdir -p $WORK/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/
cd /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/go-fuse-9999/work/go-fuse-9999/src/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs
/usr/lib/go/pkg/tool/linux_amd64/6g -o $WORK/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs.a -trimpath $WORK -p github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs -complete -D _/var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/go-fuse-9999/work/go-fuse-9999/src/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs -I $WORK -pack ./memtree.go ./multizip.go ./tarfs.go ./zipfs.go
# github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs
src/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/zipfs/memtree.go:7: import /usr/lib/go/pkg/linux_amd64/github.com/hanwen/go-fuse/fuse.a: object is [linux amd64 go1.2 X:none] expected [linux amd64 go1.3 X:precisestack]

However, if you remove the package and rebuild it's fine, so pretty much people will just have to remove it and reinstall it. If anyone has a better fix for this than a hard blocker I'm all ears.
