The Makefile for tools/TexturePacker is broken. Output of sdl-config --libs -lSDL -lpthread sdl-config --cflags -I/usr/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_REENTRANT So "-I/usr/include/SDL" is missing in the CFLAGS. There is a somewhat related thread on the offical forums. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=193251 Calling pkg-config might be the best solution. Or we could not compile tools/TexturePacker dir, as it is never installed.

Confirming the patch fixes the issue.
I tried to get this fixed upstream. To no avail. Apparently their build system is complex and does not allow for an easy fix. The patch will break if you try to crosscompile xbmc using their supplied scripts. Compiling the way the ebuild does should be find.
As a side note: SDL upstream *requires* using either pkg-config or sdl-config.
