Description Chris Smith 2014-05-14 04:08:32 UTC
media-tv/xbmc-13.0_p2 fails to build - can't find SDL_platform.h

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
In file included from /usr/include/SDL/SDL_config.h:10:0,
                 from /usr/include/SDL/SDL_stdinc.h:30,
                 from /usr/include/SDL/SDL_main.h:26,
                 from /usr/include/SDL/SDL.h:30,
                 from SDL_anigif.h:24,
                 from SDL_anigif.cpp:24:
/usr/include/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/SDL/SDL_config.h:30:26: fatal error: SDL_platform.h: No such file or directory
 #include "SDL_platform.h"

There is a /usr/include/SDL/SDL_platform.h but not /usr/include/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/SDL/SDL_platform.h (which is where it may be looking).

Comment 3 Paul Zander 2014-05-14 20:19:02 UTC
The Makefile for tools/TexturePacker is broken.

Output of

sdl-config --libs
 -lSDL -lpthread

sdl-config --cflags
 -I/usr/include/SDL -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -D_REENTRANT

So "-I/usr/include/SDL" is missing in the CFLAGS.

There is a somewhat related thread on the offical forums.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=193251

Calling pkg-config might be the best solution.

Or we could not compile tools/TexturePacker dir, as it is never installed.

Thank you. I can confirm that this patch fixed the issue for me.
Comment 6 Konstantin (elxa) 2014-05-18 14:33:12 UTC
Thanks for the patch! I added it to the user patches and it worked :)

Confirming the patch fixes the issue.
Comment 8 Paul Zander 2014-05-21 09:09:35 UTC
I tried to get this fixed upstream. To no avail. Apparently their build system is complex and does not allow for an easy fix.

The patch will break if you try to crosscompile xbmc using their supplied scripts. Compiling the way the ebuild does should be find.
Comment 9 Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2014-05-21 19:39:34 UTC
As a side note: SDL upstream *requires* using either pkg-config or sdl-config.

Also cannot install media-tv/xbmc-9999 due to same bug. Hopefully this can get resolved one of these days.
