So far I have been using PHP 5.3 with gallery-2.x on my system and everything was fine. Recently I upgraded PHP to 5.5 and noticed that portage still tries to pull php-5.3 without any reason. The problem is the following (I use gallery 2.x with sqlite support). gallery-2.x does not work with SQLite 2.x and requires SQLite 3.x, so that's why we have the following dependency in the ebuild: sqlite? ( dev-lang/php[pdo] || ( dev-lang/php:5.3[sqlite] dev-lang/php[sqlite3] ) ) This used to work well, but not anymore due to sqlite/sqlite2/sqlite3 USE flag changes. Currently we have: php-5.3: sqlite -> SQLite 3.x, sqlite2 -> SQLite 2.x php-5.4+: sqlite -> SQLite 3.x As you can see only dependency for php-5.3 can be met. I believe changing dependency to just: dev-lang/php[sqlite] should make if inline with php flags. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install gallery with PHP 5.3 and sqlite support 2. Migrate to PHP 5.4+ and remove PHP 5.3 3. Update @world Actual Results: php-5.3 gets pulled again Expected Results: php-5.3 should not be pulled as it's not needed anymore.
