Description Janis Blechert 2004-05-04 10:44:18 UTC
When I try to watch one of the streams, kaffeine 0.4.3 comes up and directly after this a progress bar (like a download) appears which quickly vanishes and a broken website is displayed.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install KDE 3.2.2 + Kaffeine 0.4.3
2. use konqueror to surf to tagesschau.de
3. Select "letzte Sendung" on the left menubar
4. Select one of the streams, neither will work

Actual Results:
a broken website of the 'letzte sendung' page is displayed

Expected Results:
kaffeine should have loaded - embedded in the konqueror window - and displayed
the stream

You have filed three bugs reports Janis, but you don't reply. If I don't see any comment with two weeks, I'll close these bug reports.
Comment 3 Janis Blechert 2004-08-06 08:48:08 UTC
I'm sorry my computer was busted and I lost all mail, how do I check the strace?
Comment 4 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-07 17:05:09 UTC
how do I check the strace?
emerge strace ; man strace

winows media is fine here (win32codecs), but i guess your problem is a very simple one - real video cannot work because kaffeine is a xine frontend and xine needs cook.so.6 (realplayer 8 codec) to play real media stuff. The problem: realplayer is masked for security reasons (Bug 40469) so you shouldn't use it. Alternatives? helixplayer or realplayer 10 - both do not supply cook.so, though.

closing, since we cannot do anything about it. closed source codec...
