Description Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2013-12-20 17:23:38 UTC
Hello,

1 of the 2 mirrors in the 'snobol4' mirror group in profiles/thirdpartymirrors appears to be dead. These were checked as part of an analysis of all third party mirror lists. The dead mirror should probably be removed, and there may be a more up to date mirror list upstream that can be used. If there is not a new mirror list upstream, it may be a good idea to remove this mirror group and revert to full URLs, as it's only used by one package (dev-lang/snobol, 3 versions).

good: ftp://ftp.snobol4.com
bad: ftp://ftp.ultimate.com/snobol

Thanks!

FYI ftp.ultimate.com is still dead/invalid, but also the main mirror ftp.snobol4.com has been restructured such that (AFAICT) none of the current mirror://snobol4/ usage is accurate now. Looks like all the releases we have IN ::gentoo are now would have to be adjusted from mirror://snobol4/ to mirror://snobol4/snobol/old/

The "version" of Snobol that has been in portage has been Phil Budne's the current versions should be -> found here ftp://ftp.snobol4.org/snobol/
(readme here -> http://www.snobol4.org/csnobol4/curr/ looks like it has a bad link href which points to the ultimate site).

Other snobol related news.. Catspaw's SPITBOL has been GPLed and is available here -> https://github.com/spitbol/spitbol It's for Intel 64 bit platforms only. Mark Emmer I believe has retired and David Shields has taken on the maintenance of the x64 spitbol stuff.
