During a world emerge, dev-dotnet/libgdiplus-2.10.9 fails to build. A search for the error messge hints towards a problem related to the GIF libraries. But unfortunately neither libgdiplus nor cairo (that it uses) have any GIF useflags that could be disabled to verfiy the problem. Don't know if related, but during that last world emerge gcc was also updated. I have already rebuilt giflib, to no avail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge libgdiplus 2. 3. emerge --info Portage 2.2.7 (default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop, gcc-4.7.3, glibc-2.17, 3.10.2-gentoo x86_64) Created attachment 359684 [details] Build log
Downgrading to libgdiplus-2.10 (by masking 2.10.9) does not help, same build error.
Oh, I just saw that it was not during emerge world that the error happens, but during emerge @preserved-rebuild
You are right, it is related to giflib. A workaround would be to hard-mask the latest giflib: =media-libs/giflib-4.2.3 in your package.mask. That works find here.
Created attachment 360418 [details, diff] libgdiplus-2.10.9-giflib-quantizebuffer.patch QuantizeBuffer has been removed since giflib 4.2.0 as shown in NEWS file: * QuantizeBuffer(), GifQprintf(), PrintGifError(), GIF_ERROR() and GIF_MESSAGE() have been removed from the core library. They were used only by the utilities. QuantizeBuffer() has been inlined where it was used and the latter three are now part of the utility support library. FreeBSD developer Romain Tartiere wrote a patch, which adds QuantizeBuffer to libgdiplus code. It can also be seen here: http://code.google.com/p/bsd-sharp/source/browse/trunk/x11-toolkits/libgdiplus/files/patch-src_gifcodec.c?spec=svn1178&r=1178
Please test if issue is gone with libgdiplus-2.10.9-r1
(In reply to Heather from comment #6) > Please test if issue is gone with libgdiplus-2.10.9-r1 Yes, libgdiplus-2.10.9-r1 is pulled in by world update and compiles fine. Thanks!
dev-dotnet/libgdiplus-2.10.9-r1 fails to build with media-libs/giflib-4.1.6-r2
libtool: compile: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/cairo -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/pixman-1 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libdrm -I/usr/include/libpng16 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/libexif -Wall -Wno-unused -Wno-format -O2 -march=core2 -msse4.1 -ftree-vectorize -funit-at-a-time -floop-interchange -floop-strip-mine -floop-block -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing -pthread -c jpegcodec.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/jpegcodec.o gifcodec.c:195:1: error: static declaration of 'QuantizeBuffer' follows non-static declaration QuantizeBuffer(unsigned int Width, ^ In file included from gifcodec.c:38:0: /usr/include/gif_lib.h:222:5: note: previous declaration of 'QuantizeBuffer' was here int QuantizeBuffer(unsigned int Width, unsigned int Height, ^ The compiler used is gcc-4.8.1-r1
So -r1 should have >=media-libs/giflib-4.2.3 DEPEND ?
or maybe it should check giflib and enable or disable patch in relation to it
(In reply to Heather from comment #11) > or maybe it should check giflib and enable or disable patch in relation to it It's usually much better to update the DEPEND instead of applying conditional patching (as we would end up testing different codes on the same revision depending on the giflib that was present at the time libgdiplus was installed)
I can confirm this. Only works with giflib 4.2.3, giflib 4.1.6-r2 does not work!
-r1 is >=media-libs/giflib-4.2.3 now please report if there is still something
