http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=926786&group_id=56866&atid=482102 When I use sim with Windowmaker at my work (with RedHat WS 3) it is docked correctly, as a Windowmaker dock at the right side of the screen. When I use it on Gentoo, it is docked as a KDE application, with a tiny flower icon which can be placed everywhere on the desktop (and not a big sticky one, which can be docked at the right side of the screen). In both places, I have kdelibs and kde installed, but use WindowMaker.
the tiny flower-icon is a not kde-thing or anything special, it's just a window created by SIM if the cannot attach to a dock yet. This happen's for me too, but i use gnome. In my case, it seems that gnome and sim start in parallel, and the dock it not yet ready when sim is started, and therefor it creates this stupid tiny flower window. This is clearly a sim-bug, and sim should somehow retry to dock itself, instead of creating this stupid tiny window.
Re-assign.
I've added svn snapshot of sim into portage tree (0.9.4_pre060114). It's still hard masked. You may wish to test and report if this bug is fixed. To emerge sim you need to unmask it with the following commands echo "net-im/sim" >> /etc/portage/package.unmask echo "net-im/sim ~arch" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords where arch is your either x86 or amd64. Then emerge sim. Feedback is wellcome. :)
sim-0.9.4_pre060131.ebuild is in portage. Try it, if you want. :)
