Description Franz Trischberger 2013-07-27 13:46:11 UTC
$ systemd --user
Failed to create root cgroup hierarchy: Permission denied
Failed to allocate manager object: Permission denied

v205 release notes mention quite some changes regarding cgroups.
After downgrading to systemd-204 everything works as expected.

Comment 1 Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2013-07-29 09:42:33 UTC
To be honest, I have never used the user mode and I doubt I can do anything specific to help. Could you open a bug report upstream (bugs.freedesktop.org) or shall I proxy it for you?
Comment 2 Franz Trischberger 2013-07-29 11:46:53 UTC
I created a report upstream:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67471
Comment 3 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2013-07-29 20:45:06 UTC
Looks like upstream thinks it's not really a bug
Comment 4 Franz Trischberger 2013-07-29 21:02:31 UTC
Upstream also says enable user@service and you will get your systemd --user again. But it does not work. I still try to find a solution, but if upstream says it "should" work this might as well be a Gentoo packaging issue. Let's see.
