I don't know why, but running "df -h" after reboot now takes a long time to show anything, also shows to errors: $ LC_ALL=C df -h df: '/sys/fs/cgroup/openrc': No such file or directory df: Do you have /etc/mtab symlinked to /proc/self/mounts? If not, you probably have stale entries there.
(In reply to Mike Gilbert from comment #1) > Do you have /etc/mtab symlinked to /proc/self/mounts? If not, you probably > have stale entries there. Yeah, that is the case. What should I do? Create a link (upstream suggests that but looks to cause other problems... even if I don't know if upstream knows that it causes problems) or edit /etc/mtab manually? Thanks :)
I just went with the symlink; I haven't noticed any problems, but I don't have any user or nfs mounts.
Yes, this is caused by missing symlink. Where is the doc about that supposed problems that appear with the symlink? I would suggest people to make the symlink (as opposite to current docs that looks to suggest it's optional and causes less problems) Thanks
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #4) My point of reference was our own wiki page. http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Systemd#.2Fetc.2Fmtab_symlink I don't know where the upstream recommendation is documented.
Upstream recommendation is shown on every boot if you don't have the link jul 14 01:12:18 belkin4 systemd[1]: /etc/mtab is not a symlink or not pointing to /proc/self/mounts. This is not supported anymore. Please make sure to replace this file by a symlink to avoid incorrect or misleading mount(8) output
I have added a note: http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Systemd#.2Fetc.2Fmtab_symlink
I think we cannot do much more in systemd side -> we show warnings from ebuild, also the guide explains the issues...
