x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers fails to build on Linux kernel 3.10. Solution: I modified a patch from the nvidia devtalk forums. I attached it to this report. Please add this to the ebuild if the users is on 3.10. After that, the nvidia driver builds successfully on kernel 3.10. No problems encountered so far (also no reports in the forums, so I guess it is safe to add) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge nvidia-drivers 2. 3. Actual Results: Build failed, see description Expected Results: Succeed I suggest applying the patch only if the user is running >= 3.10, I have no idea how to write ebuild files, I just deliver the patch, I hope somebody else can make the changes to the nvidia-drivers ebuild.
(Quoting Doug Goldstein from bug #447566 comment #56) > It is and has always been Gentoo's policy to support what NVIDIA supports. The current versions of the drivers do not support 3.10. You are more than welcome to use the capabilities of epatch_user (which are present in all the ebuilds) to make the changes yourself but they do not go into the main tree. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 447566 ***
