avahi-daemon was able to start up on kernel-3.9.3. However, because of the problem I reported on Bug 471780, now I'm using kernel-3.8.13 stabler than kernel-3.9.3. On kernel-3.8.13 avahi-daemon won't start up again. New avahi uses SO_REUSEPORT feature, that implemented in kernel > 3.9. You should downgrade avahi.
Correction, you should downgrade linux-headers to < 3.9 and recompile avahi against them.
I have downgraded the kernel header to linux-header-3.8 and recompile net-dns/avahi. Now I could have started avahi service. Thank you.
