Intro music is working, in various formats - midi, ogg, mp3. Game is fully playable from intro cut-scene to ending cut-scene.

I'm wondering if mikmod should really be non-optional, since it seems to enable an /optional/ music file-format. In fact, even if I build sdl-mixer with flac, mod, mikmod, and vorbis, I'll still only have adlib and midi available; no flac, mod, nor ogg. That is to say, it seems to me that flac, mikmod (and mod), as well as vorbis could be optional. Just some thoughts! Thanks!
