it is so annoying what going on yet. 

genkernel is since some months broken and no fixes is insight. why is "genkernel-3.4.45.ebuild" stable in portage, if it breaks the system?

also genkernel-9999 is broken. it accept app-misc/pax-utils-0.7 and u are able to emerge, but using genkernel on a gentoo-sources-3.8.7: lead to:

You will want to downgrade for now, the issue is still unresolved; see duplicate.
