sys-devel/bc is now required in order to compile the kernel so it should be added as a dependency of the kernel packages. BC kernel/timeconst.h /bin/sh: bc: command not found make[1]: *** [kernel/timeconst.h] Error 127 make: *** [kernel] Error 2 Reproducible: Always
Which kernel package and version? Could you provide your config file? For instance, I can't reproduce this on =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.8.3.
The kernel that fails to compile for me is git-sources-3.9-rc2. I think this indicates that bc is now required: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=70730bca1331fc50c3caacaea00439de1325bd6e
