Description Andrey Grozin gentoo-dev 2013-02-09 03:13:29 UTC
Yesterday I upgraded @world on 2 computers, and got kde-4.10.0. Fortunately, I haven't upgraded the older laptop, and can write this bug report from it.
After the upgrade, when I say startx, the splash screen appears (in my case Simple); the progress bar moves all the way to the right. Next, the wallpaper should appear. Instead, on the black screen a window appears: The KDE Crash Handler. It says: We are sorry, Plasma Desktop Shell closed unexpectedly. <skipped> Executable: kdeinit4 PID: 2138 Signal: Segmentation fault (11). After that, the only thing I cat do is ctrl-alt-F1. Here I see the last line (after Loading extension GLX): _glapi_get_proc_address called! In earlier kde versions, which worked, this line was absent.
lspci says that I have Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) on this computer. xorg-server is 1.13.2, xf86-video-intel is 2.21.0, mesa is 9.0.1.

This is probably bug #450818.

Please check your backtrace, or try plasma-workspace-4.10.0-r1.
