I have software that's only available as an rpm. It's a Cisco VPN client that was provided by my employer, and they supplied it as an rpm. Can I use rpm on Gentoo Linux to install binary packages ? What will and will not work ?
`emerge rpm` will install redhat's rpm system ... since i dont know how rpm works (in terms of dependency checking and such), just try to install the vpn and see how it works. as for 'only available as an rpm' i dunno ... i have the Cisco VPN client in tar.gz format ... if the straight `rpm -i <cisco vpn rpm>` doesnt work, i'm sure you can just extract the rpm's contents and install it by hand, its not hard
