Booting from install-amd64-minimal-20130110.iso allways produces this error: Unpacking firmware bzip2 compressed file ends unexpectedly perhaps it is corrupted. bzip2 inappropriate ioctl for device input= (stdin) outfile= (stdout) After that booting continues without problem. Me and another guy on Gentoo forums with this problem. Both with ASROCK motherboards. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Insert install-amd64-minimal-20130110.iso in optical drive 2.boot with default options 3.
FYI this is the same issue as bug 443024. That bug is closed because the bug in catalyst that was causing the problem was fixed, but I think this report can/should remain open until a new installcd is released that includes the proper firmware tarball.

Same issue on the new install-amd64-minimal-20130425.iso Why are the new ISOs generated with this bug? On a dell server PE2950, because of the lack of the firmware, there is no way to activate the network card. I had to use some old ISO from 2012. :-(
There has not been a catalyst release since the bug was fixed in catalyst's source. The build boxes are using the latest release version, as far as I know. Hopefully we will see a new catalyst release very soon, catalyst devs are aware of the issue.
I guess we cant count with a release until monday or? If so, i have to use the good old Knoppix DVD :D as the Gentoo minimal doesnt find any harddisks in case of missing firmware for the controller

I'll try to get this fixed in the release box this weekend. [1] - http://www.jmbsvicetto.name/releases/auto/amd64/default/20130422/install-amd64-minimal-20130422.iso

FYI this is now fixed in install-amd64-minimal-20130516.iso but we don't have a new x86 iso just yet.
Fixed in install-x86-minimal-20130528.iso too.
