why would I want to slot this? upstream only supports 4.2 now.
Comment 5 Yuego 2013-01-29 14:19:11 UTC
A lot of players are still using 4.1 and also a lot of servers running on 4.1.

I think I'm not the only one who needs to change from time to time version - and very uncomfortable doing it, reinstalling the package every time.
Comment 6 Julian Ospald 2013-01-29 14:41:46 UTC
I really don't think that this is a common usecase to justify such a maintenance complication. 4.1 will not be in the tree for very long anyway. Once upstream declares 4.2 stable it will be treecleaned.
This is just a migration problem and not a real case for slotting.

The other way would be not to support beta versions at all.

If you want such a fiddle install 4.2 via upstreams auto-updater into a separate location.

Ok. Convinced :). In this case, close the bug. I'll just leave it in my local overlay.
