I updated my system yesterday with the packages stated above. When I booted today, I got a lovely error message coming from the following code: eerror "CONFIG_DEVTMPFS=y is required in your kernel configuration" eerror "for this version of udev to run successfully." eerror "This requires immediate attention." This error message was quite helpful. I commend the person who wrote it. However, I could not give this matter my immediate attention because the boot process halted, preventing me from logging into my system. That was less helpful. I had to locate a livecd and chroot into my environment to recompile my kernel, which worked just fine a day ago. So, here's my suggestion: Don't install the new version of udev if I don't have that flag set in my kernel. Thanks! Reproducible: Always
