The emerge.log should record fetch time so that utilities like genlop can calculate the merge time more accurately (i.e. not including the time it takes to fetch a tarball).  If genlop only calculated the time without fetch, then it would be more accurate since a package tends to be rebuilt several times without fetching any new data.
